I’m not quite sure which Kratt Brother show I began watching first.  Most likely it was Zoboomafoo, since my daughter was just over a year old at the time.  I enjoyed the escape from the more mundane kid’s shows.  I have always loved animals and outdoor sports.  I was captivated by what I was learning, as well as what was being taught to my child.  Of course, the brothers’ personality, enthusiasm and good looks didn’t go un-noticed.

It wasn’t long before I admired Chris and Martin for their universal message.  The Official Kratt Brothers' web-site mentions Kid Empowerment.  "Do whatever you’re interested in.  Make your dreams happen.  You can do it!"  This message was not lost on me.  I was reminded I still had dreams to fulfill.  Now, because of a trigger from these men, I’m in the process of pursuing my goals once again.  As a single mom, this is no easy task, but I believe!

Chris and Martin are a shining example of making your dreams come true.  They dreamed of helping animals all their lives.  Through hard work, determination and true grit, they have done it!  They have taught us all to care more about the creatures in our world and created a wildlife "creaturefuge," Grizzly Gulch.

Zoboomafoo, Kratts’ Creatures and Be The Creature have become a part of my child’s and my life.  Not just because we watch the shows, because Chris and Martin have taught my daughter, have made her smile when she was too weak and sick to move and have been the catalyst that inspired me to dream again.  Thanks guys!

As mom to two very active young boys, I became involved in a search for entertainment for them that was stimulating, educational and fun.  My search led me, naturally, to the programming on PBS.  It wasn’t long before the boys were thoroughly hooked on a new show named Zoboomafoo.  At that point, mom was just glad they wanted to watch something other than Barney!  But one Sunday in June, 1999 changed all that…

Our PBS station announced a local appearance by the Kratt Brothers that coincided with my oldest boy’s 4th birthday, and with him being such a huge fan of their show, we decided to go as part of his birthday celebration.  We had a wonderful time, but it was mom who came away totally hooked!  The energy, enthusiasm and pure joy that the brothers put into their show, and later into meeting all their little fans, made me want to learn more about this extraordinary pair!

A short time later, I found not only the official web sites for the brothers and their shows, but I also discovered The Kratt Club.  I was pleased to find not only the “how it all began” stories but also current information and plans for the future, including those for their new Grizzly Gulch Creaturefuge.  Above it all, however, was the brother’s impressive message of empowering kids to live their dreams – “You can do it!”  It’s a lofty goal, and one that I hope I can instill in my own children, as well!

Over the past years since having discovered for myself all the fun and magic that the brothers spread, I am constantly amazed at how my interest in them has encouraged not only my children to grow and learn about the natural world around them, but also how it has prompted me to spread my own wings and grow in so many ways.  In addition, it has given me the extraordinary opportunity to meet not only Chris and Martin, but also to get to know a very special group of people through my work with The Kratt Club family of email lists.

Here’s to the two wonderful people whose extraordinary dreams started it all – Chris and Martin Kratt!  May those dreams always come true!

Chris and Martin proved to me that a single person is capable of truly making a difference in the world we live in.  Whether it is as simple as picking up a piece of trash or litter on a woodland trail, or volunteering some free time at an animal shelter…the world is a better place when people care…and Chris and Martin care.

By sharing their exciting creature adventures, and teaching the importance of conservation of habitat environment, they have made this a much nicer place to live.  They have been my inspiration to get involved, and make a difference in my own community, and for that I will always be grateful.
