Martin graduated with a B.S. in Zoology from Duke University, 1989 Martin was awarded a Richard H. Jenerette Fellowship to the University of North Carolina MBA Program. Martin completed a training program in breeding endangered species in captivity at the Jersey Wildlife Preservation Trust in England. Chris worked as an intern at Conservation International in Washington, D.C., 1990 Chris received a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship while at Carleton College, which he used to develop wildlife documentaries for children. Chris founded the Carleton Organization for Biodiversity, a group dedicated to increasing public awareness of conservation issues and celebrating the creature world, 1991 Chris graduated with a B.S. in Biology from Carleton College and is a Richter Fellow, 1992 Chris conducted several field studies in ecology and ecological evolution funded by grants from the Explorers Club and the National Science Foundation. Cool Site Award, September 1998 Martin and Chris were presented with an Award of Appreciation in September of 1998 by U.S. Secretary of the Interior Bruce Babbitt for their ongoing commitment and public service on behalf of conservation and environmental education. On September 22, 1998 the Kratt Brothers joined forces with the Department of the Interior and the National Wildlife Federation in creating the Frog Force. Kratt, class of ’92 was the recipient of the distinguished “In The Spirit of Carleton” Award from his alma mater, Carleton College. The Kratt Brothers official Be The Creature web site, www.bethecreature.tv received a “Rated-EXCELLENT” award from the Canadian Web Awards. The National Geographic Channel series Kratt Brothers – Be The Creature won the 2004 Aurora Awards Gold for Nature/Environment. The Kratt Brothers – Be The Creature episode, “Expedition Orangutan” was nominated for the 2004 Gemini Award for Best Sound in an Information/Documentary Program or Series. Kratt Brothers Company - Be The Creature website www.bethecreature.tv Winner of Gold World Wide Web Award for Creativity and Innovation - November 2004 In 2005, Kratt Brothers – Be The Creature, won Best Children’s Series for the episodes “Expedition-Baboon”, “Expedition-Bats”, and “Expedition-Orangutan” at the 28th International Wildlife Film Festival. The 2005 Canadian New Media Awards presented Kratt Brothers - Be The Creature as a finalist in Best Interactive Television Project. In 2006, two episodes of the Kratt Brothers award winning National Geographic Channel series Kratt Brothers-Be The Creature, were featured at the Bald Eagles Days Festival in Boise, Idaho. The episodes “Expedition – Orangutan”, and “Expedition-Mexican Free-Tailed Bats” were part of a special matinee series which showcased films from the International Wildlife Film Festival that were especially geared toward children. Summer 2008, Kratt Brothers appear at Dollywood headlining Kidsfest from June 13th to August 3rd. Chris and Martin perform in a brand new stage show entitled Creature Adventures, starring the Kratt Brothers, to rave reviews! November 2008, Creature Adventures Starring the Kratt Brothers, won Honorable Mention as Best Live Edutainment Show by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions! April 5, 2009 During GreenFest 2009 in Somerset, New Jersey, Ed Begley, Jr. presented Chris and Martin with the 1st Annual Garden State Green Award for Public Personalities. Summer 2009Chris and Martin make a return appearance to Dollywood and Kidfest, as they once again perform in their award winning Creature Adventures stage show! Winter, 2009 Creature Adventures starring the Kratt Brothers, which premiered in 2008 and headlined the park's annual KidsFest event for two consecutive years, won Best Live Edutainment Show by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions! January 3, 2011 The premiere of the Kratt Brothers first live/animated wildlife program for kids, Wild Kratts! Airs on PBSKidsGo channels. |
